Menopause Treatment Consultations in Cupar, Fife at The Tarvit Clinic

Find Your Balance: Schedule Your Private Menopause Assessment

If you are seeking expert menopause treatment, Cupar’s Tarvit Clinic provides dedicated support for this significant life transition. Menopause is a natural part of the aging process, usually between the ages of 45 to 55, but for some women, this can happen earlier. Alternatively, menopause can be brought on due to a surgery where the ovaries are removed (oophorectomy) or can be induced by the use of certain medications or treatments, for example in cancer and endometriosis.

Menopause is the time when your body’s natural hormones reduce and as a result, you stop ovulating as you previously had done (releasing eggs). It is also the time your menstrual cycle (periods) will stop if they have not stopped earlier because of contraception or surgery. Before stopping completely, periods may become heavy or irregular. You may go months between periods.

In addition to changes in your menstrual cycle, you may also have other symptoms. These symptoms can last for anything from a few months to several years and they can fluctuate in type over the course of the menopause.  Symptoms can vary from being mild to severe, often having a huge impact on your quality of life, and for many women, these symptoms can persist for some time beyond the menopause.

❌ Myth: Menopause is a natural process, you shouldn’t need medication

Truth: Experiencing pain is natural process too, evolved to protect us, but we still take pain killers to avoid unnecessary suffering. At the Tarvit Clinic, we hold the same view of menopause.

Why suffer unnecessarily? What’s more, many of the hormone treatments available are what we call “body identical”. In other words, they are exactly the same as the hormones that naturally exist in your body. Natural hormone replacement for the natural transition.

Book your initial consultation

During your initial consultation, we can explore your personal experience and symptoms to help shape the course of your treatment.

  • What matters most to you? What do your hopes/goals of any treatment or therapy?
  • What are the treatment options for you? What are their benefits and risks for you?
  • Do you have any worries regarding treatment?
  • How will the treatment affect your day-to-day life?

These appointments are suitable for all women who are peri/menopausal. They are also suitable for women who are already on HRT but perhaps you do not feel your treatment is working for you as medication requirements can change over time. You may have tried HRT and felt it didn’t help or maybe it caused you some unpleasant side effects. We can discuss what you tried previously and explore other options.

Once treatment is optimised, where possible, your treatment can be transferred back to your GP Practice if you wish. Though we will always be here should you wish to return for an appointment in the future.

Hormone tests are not required to start HRT and may not be useful during perimenopause unless timed correctly. However, where a patient wishes to have hormone blood tests, these can of course be done. Hormone tests are occasionally recommended for specific reasons- this will be discussed during appointments if applicable.
